Most important lesson.

The most important lesson I learnt throughout the EIR journey is being able to do my research smart and effectively. This module allows me to do an analysis on various search engines and also expose to other types of research medium. With the knowledge gained, I will not have difficulties in hunting for information as i know which database provides what kind of information.

Without a doubt, I have no regrets in choosing this subject as my CDS.
What more with a great lecturer!

Dream holiday

My dream holiday destination would be visiting The Dead Sea.
It is a salt lake between Israel and the West Bank to the west, and Jordan to the east.
View of the Dead Sea via satellite.

Rocks meet its lapping edges, they become snow-like, covered with a thick, gleaming white deposit that gives the area a strange and surreal sense.
The water shimmers under a beating sun.

In Islamic tradition, the Dead Sea was about the land in which the Prophet Lot lived. The people of the towns and cities were wicked for their acts of homosexuality, robbery and murder, and had therefore been given a punishment for such deeds.

The waters contain so highly a percentage of sulfur and potash that no fish and plants can live in them.
Evaluation of website.
"The living dead sea" website shows information about the place. They provides section on accomodation, attraction, activities, etc. They really shows interesting pictures of activities that we can enjoy there.
The layout and orientation of the page is sharp and straight forward.
However, there were no dates or anything stated when was the website created and how frequent are they being update.
I remembered when I was young, my parents told me about this place as they went there to visit. I was overly excited that i kept saying i want to go. They were describing about the landscape, the water, the mud bath, the weather.. basically everything. Simply AMAZING!
Besides that, I seriously need to get out from the hassles in Singapore that is occupying most of my time with projects.

"Aware sex guide suspended
May 06, 2009 Wednesday, 04:55 PM

THE Ministry of Education (MOE) has suspended the sexuality education programme run by the Association of Women for Action and Research (Aware) in some schools, saying it does not conform to the MOE's guidelines. In particular, MOE found some suggested responses in the guide 'too explicit and inappropriate, and convey messages which could promote homosexuality or suggest approval of pre-marital sex'."

I've been looking and searching for this report or article about the Aware campaign that made people, mostly parents, worry about. As usual, I used my all time favourite search engine, which is Google!

Its happening in Singapore and parents are starting to worry about whether their children will be taught that same sex relationship is OK among us.
I think that parents also plays an important role in educating children. Rationalise to them on why same sex relationship is an act of disgrace and beyond out traditions and believes. At least they have to think twice before doing it.

Few days back I met my secondary friend at the school bus stop. Catch up with each outher and I found out that most of my mates back then are either bisexual or gay. Oh dear! Whats happening to the world now. And mind you, there wasn't this Aware campaigne during my secondary school days.

Academic gateway shows that there is no result found according to my research topic which is the impact on legalizing same sex marriage. I did that research using the ‘Basic’ search query. Then I tried using the advance search using keyword in different search box. There were 117 results found now however, they are useless information albeit it was an accurate results. There were words all over the place which confused me as it doesn’t navigate me through the section that I am looking for.

Disappointing to find out that there are no relevant source found based on research topic using TP’s databases : ITPRO. There were 53 results but none of it is relevant to my search. I tried selecting on different browse topic but there are still no relevant information shown.

Without a doubt, I still prefer using google search engine do my research. The information shown are more relevant and fulfil the expections that I've been looking for.

As for using and applying it to other modules, might be.. but that is after trying my favourite search engines and I still need some information, then I'll refer to either academic gateway or tp sparks. They did not really shows information straight forward. Maybe it depends on the topic we choose but for legalising same sex marriages, there's definitely no results found.

class test 1

Talkingcock.com
Watching video on the screen shown by my lecturer. It is about Singapore. Dick Lee sings 'We are Singapore' and a song about foreigners living in Singapore. Interesting and creative lyrics I must say.

I choose image based and multimedia sources as my evaluation criteria for the mentioned website. The page has a fair balance in terms of the image and text. It actually depends on the entry that we choose to read or view. The medium used in the website are not only videos, there are also poems, job tips, etc. However, most of it is hilarious and some are irrelevant. There are also categories to select such as news, columns, features, etc. The purpose of the website is to let Singaporean to let out their feelings related to the issues that is happening in Singapore. Other links are found on the left and the right side of the page. These sections are called "Check out". One of the related links display is Coxford Singlish Dictionary. Most of the video posted are from YouTube so I can easily download it. My overall impression about this website is that the layout and order of the page is straight forward and easy to figure out how the page works. Even a primary school kids can use it without asking their parents for help subsequently.

My group was assigned to evaluate on the website. We have to imagine ourselves in Prime Minister shoes and give our opinion in our own perspective. I thing with this role play, it helps to interact with the rest of my classmate and at the same time, we can exchange our opinion and debate over it.

Took my Class Test 1 earlier during the lesson. How I did for my test?? Well not very good though. I scored 11 out of 20 questions. Luckily its only 10 %. Definitely have to study smarter for the next test.

Good day ahead people! Take care of your health.
